Regular Full TimeJob PurposeLab Technicians perform routine laboratory tests under close supervision to determine chemical or physical characteristics of samples.
Lab Technicians ensure that their duties are completed accurately and delivered with high quality in a timely manner.
Duties and ResponsibilitiesoPerform basic analytical tests based on standards and procedures as assigned by the Laboratory Manager.
oAssist and perform the setting up, adjusting and operating laboratory equipment.
oCalibrate laboratory instruments as needed to ensure that analysis is accurate according to the Quality Management systems.
oClean and sterilize laboratory equipment.
oPrepare chemical solutions according to standard formulas.
oRecords test results on standardized forms and writes test reports describing procedures used.
oUnderstand and complete laboratory raw data sheets and make accurate entries into LIMS data base.
oAbility to read and comprehend all analysis as well as safety standards in English, including ASTM, UOP, IP and other well-defined analytical standards and procedures used in the laboratory.
oExercise procedural, safety and quality requirements specified in Laboratory Manual & Safety Manual and company policies.
oAll other duties assigned by management.
Other DutiesoManagement reserves the right to change job duties with or without notice.
QualificationsoBachelor's Degree in Chemistry or a related science preferred, or equivalent work experience; coupled with a minimum of one (2) year of direct transferable experience working in a laboratory.
oKnowledgeable in ASTM standards.
oMust be able to work with all chemical, petrochemical and petroleum products.
oMust be able to differentiate between colors accurately by sight.
oLaboratory Information Management System (LIMS) experience preferred.
oProficient in MS Word, Excel, Access preferred.
oHave a great work history with a track record of being responsible individual.
oDetailed orientated.
oExcellent communication skills.
oProficient in the use of laboratory equipment.
TravelTravel is not required for this position.
Working conditionsThis position is performed in a Laboratory environment.
RequirementsPhysical requirementsThe working environment and physical demands described here are representative, but not necessarily all-inclusive, of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
oRequired to walk, sit, and reach with hands and arms; and to stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, or twist body to fit and/or reach.
oThe employee's lifting requirement and/or move items up to 50 pounds.
oBe able to work in the presence of odors typical of petroleum or petrochemicals without allergic reactions or nausea, when such odors are within OSHA-designated permissible exposure limits (PELs).
oMay be exposed to fumes, airborne particles, and toxic or caustic chemicals.
oThe noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
