Environmental Specialist

OverviewThe Environmental Specialist provides office and field support to the EHS&S Department.
This position assists with the general monitoring, recordkeeping, and reporting requirements required by federal, state, and local environmental rules and regulations.
Subject environmental media includes air, water, and waste.
As an EHS team member, this position will assist with IMTT's ability to ensure the company follows all applicable environmental regulatory and internal requirements.
This position will be primarily based at our St.
Rose terminal but will have responsibilities for our Avondale terminal and St.
Rose Refinery as well.
ResponsibilitiesResponsibilities Environmental recordkeeping (including, but not limited to, monthly and annual air emissions, water test results, spill logs, inspection records, etc.
).
Environmental monitoring (including, but not limited to, collection of media samples and use of industrial hygiene survey equipment).
Environmental reporting (including, but not limiting to, assistance in collecting data to be submitted to external agencies as required by law, spill notifications to agencies, reporting to IMTT management).
Perform field inspections related to environmental compliance at the terminal.
Assisting with air and water permit renewals and modifications.
Assisting with Jefferson Parish Special Permitted Use (SPU) permit renewals and modifications.
Assisting with the implementation, coordination and maintenance of various EHS programs, policies, and procedures.
Assisting with review and evaluation of product Safety Data Sheets.
Assisting with regulatory agency inspections, customer audits, and internal audits.
Other duties, as required, to ensure the ongoing compliance with environmental regulations and internal environmental company policies.
Education and Experience Bachelor's degree in engineering, environmental studies, ecological sciences, or another related technical field.
Minimum of 3 years of practical experience with environmental programs.
Valid driver's license TWIC (Transportation Workers Identification Credentials) for access to IMTT's terminal locations.
Experience with supervising Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) waste activities at the industrial site.
General knowledge of environmental regulatory requirements for an industrial facility.
Skills and Abilities Clear and concise written and verbal communication skills in the English language.
Ability to understand written and verbal communication in the English language.
Ability to make decisions in a variable environment.
Knowledge of basic mathematics (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and fractions).
Proficient in Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
Hours of Work Typical hours of operation are Monday through Friday 7:
00 am to 3:
30 pm.
This position requires overtime and occasional weekend work as job duties demand.
Occasional travel may be necessary, sometimes with little or no advance notice.

This job operates in a professional office environment as well as the outside environment where temperatures routinely reach 95 to 100 degrees Fahrenheit in the summer.
This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as laptop computers and phones.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear.
This is largely a sedentary role; however, some filing is required.
This would require the ability to lift up to 25 pounds, bend, stand, or stoop, as necessary.
The job requires strenuous activities and heavy lifting in an outdoor environment.
Incumbent must walk rough terrain, climb stairs and ladders on 40-foot-high tanks and lift 25 pounds on a routine basis.
Ability to wear PPE.
Because the facility handles hazardous materials, the labor force must be able to evacuate quickly from any location of the facility without assistance in an emergency.
